Aequs Aerospace, a components maker for aircrafts, said it plans to invest $50 million (Rs 334 crore) over the next five years at its newly inaugurated aerospace machining facility in Belagavi, a district in north Karnataka.
The facility, which will be used to exclusively build components for the Airbus group and is housed in Aequs' 250 acre campus will employ 1,000 skilled personnel.
"With this kind of set up a lot of things can be done in India. I expect t many more such facilities to come up," said India's defense minister Manohar Parikkar.
Aequs, which started off in 1997 as an engineering services company called QuEST Global Manufacturing, entered into making aerospace and defence components in 2006.
In 2009, it set up the special economic zone in Belagavi, which is now India's largest integrated aerospace facility in Belgaum
